Who we are

Unified Log Parser is a free website and analysis tool operated by Cyber Experts. Contact: contact@unifiedlogparser.com. By using the site you accept these terms.

The service

Unified Log Parser decodes macOS Unified Logs in your browser and shows what they contain; it also publishes articles and a glossary. It needs no account and costs nothing. We may change, interrupt or discontinue any part of it at any time.

Results are not verdicts

Triage findings, rendered messages and timestamps are aids for an analyst. A log with no finding is not proof that nothing happened, and a flagged entry is not proof of malicious activity. The decoder is independent from Apple's log tool and can differ from it; check important conclusions with log show, other sources and your own expertise. Decisions based on the results remain yours.

Your files, your responsibility

Only analyse logs you are entitled to handle, for example from your own systems or within an engagement, employment or investigation that allows it. Unified Logs can contain personal data (user names, network names, file paths); handle them and the exports accordingly.

Acceptable use

• attack, overload or try to bypass the protections of the site, or scrape it at a volume that degrades it for others;
• use it to monitor people without a lawful basis;
• present its output as coming from Cyber Experts, or suggest that we endorse your work.

Content and intellectual property

Articles, glossary entries, text and design are © Cyber Experts, all rights reserved, unless stated otherwise. You may quote short passages with attribution and a link; republishing whole articles needs our permission.

Third-party components used by the tool remain under their own licences (the tracev3 decoder is Mandiant's macos-unifiedlogs, Apache-2.0), listed in the project's third-party notices. The synthetic sample may be reused freely.

macOS and Apple are trademarks of Apple Inc. Tool names cited on this site belong to their owners. Unified Log Parser is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Apple or any tool vendor.

No warranty

Unified Log Parser is provided free of charge, as it is and as available, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or availability, to the extent permitted by law.

To the extent permitted by law, Cyber Experts is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, business or profit. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, nor the mandatory rights of consumers.

Changes and applicable law

We may update these terms; the new version is published on this page with its date, and applies from then on. These terms are governed by French law. If a dispute cannot be settled amicably, the French courts have jurisdiction, without depriving consumers of the protection of the mandatory rules of their country of residence or of their right to bring proceedings there.
